The Red Bull Rampage may be the burliest event of its kind in the entire world.
I'd like to start this year's Red Bull Rampage with a quote from my favorite movie, Blade Runner - "Wake up, time to die."
| Clouds sent in via the Grim Reaper himself. |
| The Oakley step down gap. Many riders shit their pants just thinking about this stunt. |
| One of two starting gates for the qualifying round. It was deadly just walking around up here, never mind hauling and launching a bike off here. |
| Geoff Gullevich does not fear the Reaper this year. |
| The view from the Oakley drop. Yea, it's a long way down. |
| And these guys are ready to bring you the carnage in 3D. |
| USA, battered but not broken. That's how some of the riders hope to make it out of here too. |
| One, two, three, go! |
Alex Pro, another young gun who's not afraid of the Reaper. First time, and nailed this huge drop that was a source of pain for so many riders two years ago. |
| Kyle Norbraten, looking for the Reaper, so he can kick his ass. |
| Kelly McGarry, via Margus Riga and Ian Hylands. |
| The media and athlete tent. A good place to be to get away from the scorching midday heat. Temperatures were a mild 38 degrees today. |
| Canadian air conditioned socks. Get 'em before they're sold out. Contact Nicholas Teichrob.com |
| Three dudes that can ride a bike better than you. |
| If at first you don't succeed. Try and try again. |
This was just the small step-down to wooden launcher over a huge table. Curtis Robinson, putting in his eight hour shift at the office. |
| Ryan Berrecloth, systematically working his way down every move of his qualifying run. A good formula for success that many riders were working on. |
| James Doerfling, putting things into perspective. |
Kelly McScare the shit out of everyone for busting the biggest air of the day, and also one of the biggest crashes. |
| Luckily it was a mere flesh wound. |
| Gee Atherton making a late afternoon appearance to practice some really large DH moves on his bike. |
| Alex Pro showing his dad what he learned in school today. |
| Dusty was an understatement. |
| To find the rider on course all you had to do was follow the trail of golden smoke. |
| There he goes! |
| Cedric Gracia, racing against the dying of the light. |
| Cam Zink, definitely not afraid of the Reaper. |
| Last air of the day. |
| Last crash of the day. |
| Last photo of the day. |
